How Learner and User Data Is Used
The Spread Goodness® Challenge uses learner and user data in a responsible, limited, and transparent way to support meaningful student experiences and ensure the platform operates effectively.
1. Supporting Student Participation and Learning
We use learner data to enable core features of the program, including:
• Creating and managing student and educator accounts
• Allowing students to participate in kindness challenges
• Capturing and sharing student reflections and experiences
• Facilitating safe communication within the platform
• Organizing participation by classroom, school, or grade level
This ensures students can fully engage in the experience in a structured and supportive environment.
2. Operating and Improving the Platform
We use limited system and usage data to:
• Maintain platform performance and reliability
• Troubleshoot technical issues
• Improve user experience and functionality
• Ensure platform safety and security
This type of data helps us keep the platform running smoothly and continuously improve it for schools.
3. Communication and Program Coordination
We use contact and account information to:
• Send important service-related communications (e.g., login details, updates)
• Support program coordination between educators and schools
• Provide relevant notifications about participation and progress
We do not use this data for advertising or marketing to students.
4. Use of De-Identified Data
We may use data that has been de-identified (with all personally identifiable information removed) for purposes such as:
• Understanding how the program is being used
• Improving features and user experience
• Conducting research on program effectiveness
• Demonstrating impact to schools and partners
This data cannot reasonably be used to identify any individual student.
5. Use of Aggregated Data
We may combine data across groups (e.g., classrooms, schools, or districts) to create aggregated insights, such as:
• Participation rates
• Types of kindness activities completed
• Overall engagement trends
This information is used to:
• Help schools understand program impact
• Improve program design and outcomes
• Share high-level insights with partners or stakeholders
Aggregated data does not identify individual students or users.
6. What We Do Not Do
• We do not sell learner or user data
• We do not use data for targeted advertising
• We do not create marketing profiles of students
Simple Summary
We use data only to run, support, and improve the program—never to exploit it. When we analyze data for insights, we remove identifying details and look only at group-level trends.
