Lifelong Educator, Lisa Lang, is the Founder of Spread Goodness®

Welcome to The Spread Goodness® Challenge!

I’m Lisa Lang, a lifelong educator, theater professional, and passionate advocate for spreading joy, love, and positivity. My journey began in 4th grade when I decided to become a teacher and later graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in Elementary Education, Theater Arts, and French. I started my career in the classroom, where I taught students from early childhood through eighth grade. That experience shaped my deep belief in the power of education—not just in academics but in character, creativity, and community.

For 15 years, I founded and led Dream Big Performing Arts, one of the largest educational theater arts organizations for children in Chicagoland. Now, I am thrilled to bring that same passion for learning and personal growth into The Spread Goodness® Challenge, a program designed to inspire young minds to take action to collectively make our world a better place through simple acts of human kindness and generosity of spirit.

At its core, education is about transformation—helping students see their potential and empowering them to make a difference. With this challenge, I hope to ignite a movement in schools that encourages children to lead with generosity, compassion, and a sense of purpose.

I invite teachers, schools, and families to join us in this mission. Together, we can create a culture of kindness that reaches far beyond the classroom.

We believe…

We believe people are doing kind things for each other all over the world every single day. However, the immense amount of goodness around us often goes unnoticed in the deluge of extreme polarization and online distractions. We wanted to change that narrative by empowering people to continue getting out in the world to share their light and then showcase, celebrate, and amplify these moments of human kindness and generosity of spirit online with a visionary intention, and focused attention on the world we want to create.

We believe, now more than ever, we must shine a light on our collective power to make the world a better place so that we don’t get swept into the undercurrent of negativity.

Spread Goodness® is a brand built to showcase and inspire acts of kindness. We believe each act of positivity has a ripple effect, sparking more goodness in ourselves and those around us.

Our Story

Spread Goodness® was founded in 2015 after a personal experience revealed to our Founder, Lisa Lang, the transformative power of how small heart-centered points of connection can have a profound impact on both the giver and the receiver. Here is her personal account:

I was in Sedona, AZ when I found and bought 2 $2 heart pendants (pictured here). The store clerk put them on leather necklaces for me and I went back home with my new found gifts. 
The next day, I was feeling down and decided in a split second moment while putting on one of the necklaces, that if anyone complimented me on my necklace, I would offer to give it to them. It perked me up knowing I now had a mission for the rest of the day. 
Later that morning, I went to my dentist's office for the first time and the first person I met was my dental assistant and the first words out of her mouth were "I love your necklace!" I took off my necklace and gave it to her. She was so surprised and overwhelmed by the gesture. She expressed that “you never know how anyone else might be feeling each day and it matters to be kind.” Weeks later, I went back to that office. When I saw her, she was still wearing the necklace and told me how much she love is and never takes it off. I asked her what about that necklace meant so much to her and she said, "I'm the mom, I'm the wife, I'm the assistant... I'm always doing for other people and that was the first time in a long time, someone did something special for me."
I left the dentist's office and felt like I was walking on clouds. I was so happy that I could brighten someone else's day like that. 🩷

In an increasingly over divisive world, we are constantly bombarded with negativity from all forms of media. Now more than ever, we need to plug into something that reminds us of all the good in the world.
